1. Oracle closes $28B buy of 'huge growth engine' Cerner
Oracle’s acquisition of Cerner is now the biggest completed digital health deal, followed by Microsoft’s $19.7 billion acquisition of clinical documentation company Nuance Communications and telehealth giant Teladoc’s $18.5 billion snap-up of chronic care manager Livongo.
Illumina has acquired IDbyDNA, a company developing metagenomic technology for infectious disease testing and pathogen surveillance.
3. Nordic Bioscience and Roche Diagnostics strengthen tie-up
Nordic Bioscience, a growing biomarker company, has strengthened its ongoing collaboration with Roche Diagnostics for the development of proprietary biomarkers involved in tissue breakdown and build-up.
4. Paige, Janssen Partner on Bladder Cancer Dx
Paige will work with Janssen Research & Development to assess the ability of a screening tool developed by Janssen to predict the presence of fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) genes in patients with advanced bladder cancer.
5. Illumina & Merck Collaborate to Develop Research Test
The two companies have launched a research test that could identify genetic mutations used in the evaluation of homologous recombination deficiency.
6. Mayo Clinic, K Health team up to use AI for personalized hypertension treatment
Digital health "unicorn" K Health teamed up with the Mayo Clinic to develop an artificial intelligence diagnosis model built to help doctors quickly identify better hypertension treatments for their patients.
7. Anthem targets women's digital health with Happify Health partnership
Health insurer Anthem partnered with Happify Health to digitally address the physical and mental health of women.
8. Exact Sciences Bolsters Plasma Proteomics Tech With $15M Purchase of OmicEra
Exact Sciences moves into plasma proteomics with its recent purchase of Planegg, Germany-based OmicEra Diagnositcs.
9. Ultima Genomics, Exact Sciences Ink Long-Term Sequencing Supply Agreement
Ultima Genomics and Exact Sciences struck a long-term supply agreement for Ultima’s next-generation sequencing technology.
10. Tempus, Intermountain Healthcare Strike Precision Cancer Care Alliance
Tempus partnered with healthcare system Intermountain Healthcare to generate molecular data for personalized cancer research.
11. Biogen and Happify partner on digital support for MS patients
Digital health company Happify has signed a partnership with another biopharma company, joining forces with Biogen on a toolkit to help people with multiple sclerosis manage their illness.
